Give The People What They Want" is the band's fifth studio album, and was recorded at home in Bushwick, at the Daptones' House Of Soul studio - after touring for two years with its predecessor "I Learned The Hard Way", released in 2010. These ten songs, as expected, shine with the classic soul sound the Daptones are used to - and yet there's this freshness to the band's playing and songwriting, thanks to which the album sounds unlike anything they've done before. From the opener "Retreat!", an electrifying stomper, to the instantly familiar sounding feel-good groove of "We Get Along", to "Stranger To My Happiness", which in three and a half heart-stopping minutes offers everything you'd expect from the Dap-Kings' sound, this record absolutely rightly bears its title: "Give The People What They Want".
