Joel Sarakula's new album “Soft Focus” is a mid-career album that brings together his many influences and genres, including soft rock, funk and indie pop, under the umbrella of his soft gaze. “Soft Focus” is also the name of a photographic technique in which the image is a little blurred and undefined. An apt title: as a lifelong wearer of (old) glasses, Sarakula knows a lot about spherical distortions. Great album!
