In the midst of Melbourne's burgeoning cinematic soul scene, which includes bands like Surprise Chef and Karate Boogaloo, you'll also find The Pro Teens. Led by prolific drummer and percussionist Hudson Whitlock, who also plays in the two aforementioned bands, this "renegade" studio project is a shifting collective of esteemed Melbourne-based instrumentalists who play incognito under outlandish pseudonyms such as "'Dead Honest' Dean Amazing" and "Libby Clique-Baite". "I Flip My Life Every Time I Fly" is the latest musical creation from Whitlock's eccentric mind, which combines the soul and funk roots of sample culture with the principles of boom-bap hip-hop.
